Organizations Combating PovertyThe relevant organizations below were found to be particularly helpful by the Poverty Assessment team. This list is not meant to be exhaustive; please submit ideas for additional links to the IRIS Center. USAID Microenterprise DevelopmentThe Microenterprise Development (MD) division was established by USAID in 1994 to further the Agency’s broad based economic growth strategy focused on helping the poor to increase their incomes, assets, skills and productivity. Through technical support to USAID Bureaus and Missions, MD contributes to the overall quality of the Agency's microenterprise programs. MD helps the Agency to expand the frontiers of knowledge and practice about microenterprise development by identifying and analyzing emerging issues, developing innovative partnerships and promoting best practices among practitioners and the donor community. USAID's PovertyFrontiersThis site, established by USAID/EGAT's Poverty Analysis and Social Safety Net (PASSN) Team, is a forum for organizations and individuals involved in poverty reduction to exchange best practices and lessons learned. CGAP Client Targeting CenterThe CGAP Client Targeting Center has been designed to provide information on the targeting tools that MFIs use, their experiences and an assessment of their successes. PovertyNetThe PovertyNet site is maintained by the Poverty Reduction Group, part of the Poverty Reduction and Economic Management Network at the World Bank. The SEEP NetworkThe Small Enterprise Education and Promotion Network (SEEP) is an association of more than 51 North American private and voluntary organizations that support micro and small enterprise programs in the developing world. SEEP's mission is to advance the practice of small and microenterprise development among these organizations, their international partners, and other practitioners. Imp-ActImp-Act is a global action-research programme designed to improve the quality of microfinance services and their impact on poverty by developing impact assessment systems. Enterprise Development Impact Assessment Information Service (EDIAIS)EDIAIS provides information and expertise in enterprise development impact assessment to DFID and the wider development community. The Microcredit Summit CampaignThe Microcredit Summit Campaign works with microfinance practitioners around the world towards the goal of reaching 100 million of the world's poorest with access to financial services. The group also organizes trainings for practitioners in poverty targeting tools.
